Description
These delightfully simple peanut butter cookies provide a rich, nutty flavor and a perfectly chewy texture using only three common pantry staples. They are the ideal quick-fix treat for busy afternoons when you want home-baked comfort without the mess of flour or butter.
Ingredients
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter (standard commercial brands work best)
- 1 cup granulated white sugar
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a heavy-bottomed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter, sugar, and egg, stirring with a wooden spoon until the dough is smooth and uniform.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Using a fork, press a criss-cross pattern into the top of each cookie to flatten it slightly.
- Bake for exactly 12 minutes, then let the cookies rest on the tray for 2 minutes before moving them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
If the dough feels too soft to roll easily, place the bowl in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to firm up. To prevent the fork from sticking while making the crosshatch pattern, dip the tines into a small bowl of sugar between each cookie.
