Description
Experience the ultimate fusion of a classic sandwich cookie and a velvety bakery-style treat. These cookies utilize a unique cream cheese and butter base to ensure a dense, pillow-soft texture packed with white chocolate and crunchy Oreo chunks.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 4 ounces full-fat brick cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- ½ cup white chocolate chips
- 10 Oreo cookies, roughly chopped
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt until evenly distributed.
- In a large bowl or stand mixer, beat the softened cream cheese until completely smooth.
- Add the softened butter and continue beating until the mixture is uniform.
- Add both the granulated and brown sugars and cream them together on medium-high speed for about 2 minutes until pale and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract on high speed until the mixture is fully combined.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet mix and stir on low speed just until combined.
- Gently fold in the white chocolate chips and the roughly chopped Oreo pieces by hand.
- Cover the bowl tightly and chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Scoop heaping tablespoons of dough (about 1.5 tablespoons each) and place them 3 inches apart on the prepared sheets.
- Bake for 12–13 minutes until the edges are lightly browned but the centers still look soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes to set before moving them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
To ensure your cookies have a professional finish, avoid over-mixing the dough once you add the flour, as this can lead to a tougher texture. If you find the dough is too sticky to handle even after chilling, lightly flour your hands before rolling the scoops into balls. For the best flavor, allow the cookies to cool completely, which lets the cream cheese tang develop more fully alongside the sweet vanilla.
